Five Healthy Eating Spots In Barcelona

Last week I spent three glorious days in Barcelona, a city I had never visited before, but one that fast became my favourite destination I have ever been to. Usually after visiting someplace I like to piece together a guide of places that are good for food – especially healthier grub. So with that in mind here are my recommendations for five healthy eating spots in Barcelona.

1: Surf House Barcelona

This was a great little find for something healthy or for a little cheat meal. I opted for both! I went with the vegetable rolls and the nachos with chicken. They were sensational. Situated on the promenade next to the beach in the city, it’s the perfect location for lunch or dinner with a view. And the served coconut water in the coconut shell – something I’d never had but always wanted for the sheer novelty! A great little find.

2: Brunch and Cake

It was actually the hotel that recommended this cool spot for brunch. There are actually two in Barcelona – one in the heart of the city and one closer to the beach. The idea of the menu is food that grandma used to make and I have to say it blew me away. There was amazing thought put into even “normal” dishes which gave them added flair and the presentation was out of this world. I had the Avocado Toast 2 Ways with poached eggs and I highly recommend the homemade sugar-free Nutella pancakes! Delicious.

3: Flax and Kale

Fresh vegetable juices are to be found everywhere in Barcelona. Seriously it’s fantastic the emphasis on health and wellness, we found it really easy to eat well. Flax and Kale is another healthy options cafe conjoined with an amazing juicery where the options are endless. I took a picture of the food here and the colour was sensational. A lovely place for breakfast or brunch and there are two venues in the city, both with completely different menus.

4: Gallito

Gallito was a lovely find, amazing staff, gorgeous atmosphere and delicious food. We had local breads, olive oil and olives to start with homemade humus and fresh rainbow vegetables and then the main was fish cooked “the way the locals do”. Prices in most of the eateries in Barcelona are very similar to prices at home so it’s not cheap but the quality of the food is amazing.

5: The Green Spot

This little spot was recommended to me and I am so glad we got to experience it. Set int he heart of the city, it’s a vegan restaurant with a menu that is simply out of this world. We had homemade vegetable chip nachos, chilli edamame and a black pizza with goats cheese and caramelised onion. Simply sensational.

If you are planning a trip to Barcelona in the coming months pop these little finds in your diary, you won’t be disappointed.

Hope you enjoyed this little post. Don’t forget I am also on Instagram and Facebook and Twitter. See you there!
