Five Reasons Why You Should Workout Today

Are you having trouble finding the motivation to train today? Maybe you got up late and vowed to hit the gym after work or promised yourself you’d get that run in later this evening. Well just in case you are now struggling to keep that motivation going as the day goes on – I’ve pieced together five reasons why you should workout today. Take a look. 

 
 

To put you in a great mood
Exercise is such a great mood booster, even if you are not feeling it, pushing yourself to do just 30 mins of exercise will have such an amazing impact on your mood. It’s hard to feel bad or let negativity in after a workout. If you are struggling try this quick 30 minute routine: 

Phase 1

Squats (add weight) x 15

Lunge (add weight) x 20

Push Up x15

Weighted Sit Up x15

3 Rounds

 

Cardio Blast: 1000m Row OR 5 minute run 

 

Phase 2 

Reverse Crunch x10

Squat Jumps (add weight) x 20

Kettlebell Swing x 20

Dumbbell/kettlebell/barbell Deadlift x 10

3 Rounds 

 

Cardio Blast: 1000m Row OR 5 minute run 

 

 

To have some ‘you’ time

Spending time looking after YOU in the gym is time very well spent indeed. Pop your earphones in, stick on your favourite playlist and escape to your own little world for a while. Taking time for ourselves is one of the things we often put off, but it’s vital. Don’t make the excuse that you don’t have time. Make time. You can’t possibly look after all the things you need to at home and at work if you are not, first and foremost, looking after yourself. 

 

 

 

It can help your confidence

If you feel a little under-confident with your body, the BEST thing you can do is start working towards the new you! Don’t put it off a day longer. Feeling like you are lacking in confidence is no way to feel and one thing that can definitely help to turn that around is a good workout. You will never reach your goal if you put off a workout every time you are not feeling in the mood. Go! Go now! And take another step in the right direction. 

 

You’ll sleep better tonight

If you are feeling tired, or finding it difficult to sleep this week don’t use that as an excuse. A workout is always a great way to a better nights sleep. You may not feel it now but even a 20-30 minute jog outside will go a long way to helping your body knuckle down to enjoy a good nights sleep. 

 

 

It will de-stress you

Exercise is a great stress reliever so if you’ve had a tough day – a good workout is pretty much the best thing you can do. Exercise slows down the release of cortisol, the stress hormone, so getting in a workout will help ease the stresses and strains of the day.
